Generally, data mining (sometimes called data or knowledge discovery) is the process of analyzing data from different perspectives and summarizing it into useful information - information that can be used to increase performance in any field. Data mining methods are often implemented at advanced universities today for analyzing available data and extracting information and knowledge to support decision-making.This project deals with the performance prediction of student grades based on the historical data.
In this project we will design a data mining tool that classifies and analysis students , based on the results students are advised accordingly. The study is based on the various factors like students' mathematical background, programming aptitude, problem solving skills, gender, prior experience, high school mathematics grade, locality, previous computer programming experience, and moodle usage. Of the general categories of methods mentioned, prediction, clustering and relationship mining are considered universal methods across all types of data mining similar methodology is used in developing the this tool.
